What Are Crystal Infusions?

I get this question A LOT.

And to answer, in short, when you read 'Infused with Crystal Essences' on my blends, it means that they have been in-directly infused with (the metaphysical properties of) crystals; hence the term 'crystal elixir.'

You might also see crystal elixirs called:

  • Crystal essences
  • Crystal tonics
  • Crystal potions
  • Elixir water
  • Gem elixirs
  • Gem essences
  • Gem tonics
  • Gem water
  • Healing elixirs

One of the simplest vibrational medicines that you can easily prepare yourself at home, crystal elixirs are drinks, or blends, infused with gems or crystals. During the infusion process, the water becomes attuned with a gem or crystal's specific vibration – its signature.

When you take a small amount of the elixir, you are taking on the vibration of the crystal - so for example, a rose quartz elixir as I've photographed here, gives the vibration of love.

But what does this mean and how is it done?

Well, first you should know there are two types of infusions: Direct and Indirect.

This means you can either place a crystal directly in your water (not to be consumed), or near your water -- and just like that, you've started an infusion.

An infusion is done when one wishes to attune their being with a crystal's energetic imprint to absorb and benefit from its metaphysical properties.

When people wish to create an infusion they most commonly do so with water, but an infusion can be with anything you wish to set intent, charge, or emit benefits into - such as Despierta's magical blends.

With this said, some people reach out to me wanting to know how I infuse my blends and whether or not I micro-grind the gems in my mortar & pestle (as you do with herbs) and stir them into my concoctions.

But in reality, it's a lot less complicated - and a lot safer.

As I stated above, there are two methods. This is because when speaking of crystals, not all are made (up of) the same. Some crystals are actually quite unsafe to place directly in water as they can dissolve, break apart, corrode or rust in the water.  Some even contain minerals or chemicals that make them unfit for human consumption. This is why it is so important to do your research and really know what you are doing when creating your own elixirs.

Here is how these two methods differ and why it is important to know how/when to use each --

Direct Infusion is exactly what it sounds like - a crystal that is placed directly in what you are infusing.

(You can see from the image above how direct infusion looks)

Some of the most common SAFE crystals for direct infusion:

  1. Amethyst
  2. Black Obsidian
  3. Carnelian
  4. Citrine
  5. Clear Quartz
  6. Rose Quartz
  7. Rutilated Quartz
  8. Smoky Quartz

I have spent years studying, working with and dialling in which crystals will go with each of my blends, and have chosen to in-directly infuse all of my blends as it is a potent, and yet safe, option.

With indirect infusion, you are able to infuse all of the magic (the natural beneficial metaphysical properties of and intentions set into your chose crystals) into whatever you wish. This could be drinks, food.. even setting them around your bed will help give you the benefits indirectly.

Indirect infusion can be done in a multitude of ways, but here are a few of my favorites:

1. It is still possible to indirectly infuse your water by simply placing your crystal in a glass container (can be a small cup, jar, etc.) and then place that container in a larger vessel which contains your water. You can then set outdoors or near a window to infuse and charge beneath the Sun and Moon.

2. The second option is what I use and have streamlined here for Despierta. I like to set two stages to my infusion - both within the micro-grinding, hand-blending and filling stage as well as after I have poured and sealed each pouch.

After the pouches are heat-sealed, I then move them to another room where I have a designated crystal infusion area that is lined up with all of the proper crystals for each blend. I then place the pouches in their area to charge indirectly with all of the crystals surrounding their respective blend in a glass 'chamber' or vault.

Some of the most common UNSAFE crystals (that are best to use for in-direct infusion):

  1. Angelite: contains lead and sulfur
  2. Garnet: contains Aluminium
  3. Hematite: contains iron and will rust when submerged
  4. Labradorite: contains Aluminium
  5. Lapis Lazuli: contains sulfur
  6. Malachite: contains copper
  7. Pyrite: contains iron and traces of sulfur
  8. Tiger's Eye: raw Tiger's Eye is a fibrous form of asbestos

These should NEVER be put in your water, water bottles, or drinks in general as they have chemicals that can be toxic when ingested. Remember, not all crystals are safe to use in crystal-infused water. The last thing you want to do is ingest chemicals from certain crystals. Not only will water potentially damage the gemstone, a natural stone elixir from these crystals could be extremely harmful to you and your well-being. Toxic crystals can cause sickness, allergic reactions, or even death. Please, ALWAYS  DO  YOUR  RESEARCH.

-- At the end of the day, the key thing to remember is that crystals are energetic, vibrational tools that can aid you on your journey. As with anything, it is important to be cautious and conscious of how you work with them, which you choose to work with and be as present as possible so that if anything does arise, you feel it.

I love working with crystals and infusing each of my blends with their intentions and properties as they help so many further amplify their own innate magic.

I truly hope this has helped you better understand this process, and as always - if you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out. I am a small business.. it is literally just me, Dulce Ruby, working on all of this for you all! So I truly do care about this educational portion to my products, brand and their benefits.
